Adult Education students from the 2008-09 school year were honored recently at the Warren County Career Center in a ceremony on May 27 for family and friends. The Lebanon High School Air Force Junior ROTC presented the colors. Hale Husband, Program Integrator at GE Aircraft Engines, was the guest speaker. Mr. Husband is a member of the Kings Local Board of Education and is a former member of the WCCC board. He spoke to the students about their personal training plans and urged them to never give up on their dreams.
Student speakers were Crystal Lowery and Michael Seman. Ms. Lowery said she was the only woman in her Electrical Power Line Mechanic class. Even though she was in a male-dominated field, she said she proved her worth to other students in the class and to her instructors. “I am ready now to go out there and show that women can be power line mechanics, too,” she said.
Mr. Semen completed the Industrial Maintenance program at WCCC in 2008 and then returned to take Welding. He is now running his own business and teaching part time for WCCC Adult Education’s Welding class.
The students were given Career Passports as a symbol of the successful completion of their courses. The Career Passport is a document that contains any certificates earned plus a resume and other documents such as letters of recommendation.
Approximately 430 students completed full time WCCC Adult Education programs in the 2008-09 school year, and over 4,000 part time students took individual classes and shorter term programs.

The Auctioneer class of four students raised $1,388 for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at its spring charity auction, a final capstone project for the class.
