The following component services are available to adults through Warren County ABLE:

Basic Skills Review
Basic Skills Review is offered for adults who need to learn or upgrade their math, reading, writing, and/or English skills. Basic Skills instruction is available to all adults regardless of educational background. Instruction takes place within the framework of the G.E.D. classes. An individual learning plan is set up to help meet the specific needs and goals of each student. Coursework can prepare the adult student for pre-employment testing, higher education opportunities, college placement, and/or career advancement.  Instruction and materials are provided free to all students.

GED Preparation
The G.E.D. (General Educational Development) offers adults a second chance to gain their high school credentials. Instruction is provided for adults who have not completed their high school education. The Ohio High School Equivalence Diploma (G.E.D.) can open the doors to many other opportunities such as employment, technical school, and college. The official G.E.D. exam consists of five sub-tests. The exam is timed and takes about 7.5 hours to complete. The Warren County Career Center offers G.E.D. testing on a regular basis. G.E.D. classes are designed to prepare adult students for the exam. Coursework includes math, writing, and reading exercises that correspond to the content of the G.E.D. exam. Students will earn a ‘fee waiver’ for the official exam upon successful completion of the G.E.D. Practice Test.  G.E.D. instruction and materials are provided free to the students.

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
ESOL class is designed for the adult who does not speak English as his/her native language. Interactive, small-group instruction emphasizes the essential skills of reading, writing, and conversational English. Students will also learn about American culture and traditions. Citizenship preparation is provided as needed. Instruction and materials are free.
